Chocolate balls with salted licorice & flake salt
Unexpectedly deep, sweet and salty at the same time – a small pastry with great confidence.
Ingredients (about 20 pieces)

150 g butter, room temperature

1.5 dl granulated sugar

1 tbsp vanilla sugar

3 tbsp cocoa
-
4 dl oatmeal
-
2 tablespoons strong coffee
-
1 dl finely chopped Finnish salted licorice (our classic, black candy)

A pinch of flaked salt
Topping (choose one or combine)

Crushed salted licorice
-
Pearl sugar
-
Cocoa
-
Coconut
-
Flaked salt
Here's how you do it

Mix together butter, sugar, vanilla sugar and cocoa until smooth.

Add oatmeal and coffee. Mix thoroughly.

Fold in the finely chopped salt liquorice and a pinch of flaked salt.

Roll into balls of any size.

Stir in topping and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Serving tips
Serve on a rustic wooden platter or in a small jar. They will keep for several days in the fridge and even longer in the freezer – but we find it hard to believe they will survive that long.
